SmartLARMS support

Help for people using the SmartLARMS field app and web dashboard — collectors, valuers, supervisors and project administrators. If the answer is not below, email us and a person will reply.

Contact

Email olules@smartlarms.com. Please include your organisation, the project name, and the device you are using — it is usually enough to resolve the issue on the first reply rather than the third.

If you are reporting something that looks wrong in the data, tell us the PAP reference number rather than the person's name. It identifies the record precisely and keeps personal details out of an email thread.

Signing in

Accounts are created by your project administrator, not by you — there is no self-registration in the field app, by design. If you have no credentials, ask whoever runs the project for your organisation.

Forgotten passwords are reset from the sign-in screen. If the reset email does not arrive, check that your administrator has the right address on your account before assuming it was lost.

“I signed in but I see no projects”

This is almost always an assignment issue rather than a fault. The app shows the projects you are a member of, so an account that has not yet been added to a project team correctly shows an empty list.

Ask your project administrator to add you to the project team. The list populates on your next sync — you do not need to reinstall the app or sign out and back in.

Working offline

The field app is offline-first. Everything you capture — project affected persons, land parcels, structures, crops and trees, grievances, photographs and GPS points — is written to the device immediately and does not need a connection.

District, sub-county, parish and village lists are bundled into the app, so location entry works with no signal at all. You can complete an entire day's collection with the device in aeroplane mode.

Syncing

Sync is deliberately manual. Nothing uploads in the background while you are working, so a weak connection can never interrupt or corrupt a form you are part-way through filling.

When you are back on a usable connection, use the sync control on the home screen. It reports what is pending and what has been sent. Leave the app open until it finishes.

Do not reinstall the app while records are pending. Anything captured but not yet synced lives only on the device, and reinstalling deletes it. If sync is failing, contact us before removing the app.

Location and camera permissions

The app asks for two permissions, both only when you first use the feature that needs them:

  • Location — to geo-tag records so an entry can be verified against the project boundary. Used only while the app is open; there is no background location tracking.
  • Camera and photo library — to attach photographs of land, structures, crops and supporting documents as evidence on a record.

If you declined a prompt and now need the feature, re-enable it in your device settings under the SmartLARMS app. The app cannot ask a second time once you have refused.

Your data and account

Field records belong to the organisation running the project, not to ValueSpace. Requests to correct or remove project data should go to your project administrator, who can act on them directly.

To have your own user account deactivated, email olules@smartlarms.com from the address on the account, or ask your administrator. How we handle personal information is set out in the privacy policy for this site and, for the platform itself, at https://smartlarms.com/privacy.

The web dashboard

Supervisors and administrators use the dashboard at https://smartlarms.com, where project teams, rate schedules, review and approval, and reporting all live. The field app covers collection; the dashboard covers everything after it.
